Kicked from the Silent TDM

Hi everybody,

well i have this problem with punkbuster: i always kicked from our Silent TDM server after a few minutes playing.

i get this error message:



Just to add: I update PB all the time so it cant be the matter with no updating...

Hope that anyone knows how to fix this.

That is a firewall issue, turn your firewall off and see if you get the same kick.

It can also be caused by not updating your PB and also sometimes a bad install. Try a reinstall or repair of the PB services if the firewall thing does not work.

Maybe your PnkBstrA.exe and if you have PnkBstrB.exe are not allowed at your firwall setting. This would cause this error.

Ah yeh, thanks RD, if you turn your firewall off and dont get kicked, then go into the settings and allow both these applications before starting it again and continuing to play

ok i still get kicked.
I disabled my firewall and updated pb once more.
@R+D: i find the PnkBstrA.exe and the PnkBstrB.exe but how can i allow them?
i will see what i find in my firewall settings...
but when i disabled my firewall it should work because then he cant forbid the PnkBstrA and the PnkBstrB.exe...


EDIT: I looked again in my firewall extended settings and PnkBstrA and PnkBstrB are allowed...

i am wondering too because before i could play very well but now i can play but just a few min..

well i did EVERYTHING EXACTLY like you said R+D but i still get kicked from the Silent TDM
AND i run like you said ET as admin (did everthing like in your tut) but now is everything away again!!

I Lost again all my XP and my adminlevel.

You may have a corrupt PB file? So I want you to delete everything that is in your PB folder except for the pbsetup.exe. <--- Keep this file because after you delete everything in the PB folder you need to run this program again.


Also run the pbsetup.exe as the administrator by right clicking on the file.

Once you have done this try to connect to one of the PB server and see how you go?

Alex gave me back my admin level on now download anyway.
But i hope to get my XP back again

ok i have cleaned my program files pb folder and run the setup..so far it worked. it gave my all new. well,
then i tried playing but i still get kicked...
maybe it is again because of my windows 7? because i have a pb folder in virtual store too...should i update this one like this? that means delete all and update?

Yes. Sometimes the PB folder in the virtual store doesn't update when you run the pbsetup.exe manually. Yeah so add the pbsetup.exe tool from the virtual store pb folder and then you should have the same files in both folders.

ok i did that but there are not the same files then in the pb folder of program files...there is now just the pbsetup.exe, pbgame (HTML document) and pbuser (HTML document)....but i have to go now....i will tell you guys tomorrow if it works

Well to get the error your talking about there must be some files in your Enemy Territory folder that are blocked or not allowed or even not running as admin? Every where I have looked on the NET about your error points to firewall or admin privileges....

Even if you put a support ticket into PB ( Evenbalance ) You will get the same information back as we have posted here.

I just don't understand why you were able to join these servers just fine and now you can't? Has to be something you changed? Can you think of or if you changed anything??


Users that are getting kicked for "Service Communication Failure" (including the handshake failure type) have some other software that is blocking the PunkBuster services.

Some users have previously disabled the PnkBstrA.exe and PnkBsrtB.exe services in the past, and these services are now mandatory.

If the services are stopped/disabled, then PB will kick from this point forward.

Sometimes it is an anti-virus program (like an old version of McAfee Security Center), sometimes it is a personal firewall that are blocking the services. Any user who is getting kicked for this will have to stop whatever is blocking PB or configure the program to allow the two services.

The below link is a tool provided by PunkBuster that will help users who need to reinstall the services:

If the above PBSVC program does not pass all the tests, please ensure that any installed firewalls or other programs are not blocking the PnkBstrA/B services.

If that still does not do the trick, please open a ticket with PunkBuster here:

ok first: i didnt changed anything other like you said.
i run the punkbuster reinstall test and there was no error found - all tests ended successful.

so it cant be because of that...

but what i thought of...i think it didnt work for me since the XPsave worked on the server...
i dunno but thats the only thing i can think of....

but it cant be of course my anti-virus program or because of my firewall because i already tried to play when both were disabled.

Did you find your PnkBstrA.exe or PnkBstrB.exe in your virtual store? If you did do this.

1./ Right click on your PnkBstrA.exe

2./ Now select properties.

3./ Now select the "Security" from the menu bar.

4./ Now find any user's that don't have FULL CONTROL of the PnkBstrA.exe

5./ Edit, or use Advanced edit, to make them have FULL CONTROL and click apply.

6./ Now do the same from step 1 for PnkBstrB.exe

Try that and see how you go??

Go here and download the pbsvc.exe. Put it in yuor PB folder, within your enemy territory, and run it.

Also everything points to your firewall or anti-virus with this problem. Your Firewall or Virus program is stopping PB from sending you or receiving information....

do you have any other ideas with Silent TDM?
my only idea is that i wasnt able to play longer then 4 min after the XPsave worked....

The XP save doesn't have anything to do with the error. It's a totally different server, hence a different XP save file altogether..... After using the pbsvc.exe do you know have the PnkBstrA.exe or the PnkBstrB.exe?? These are what you need to join the PB enabled servers.

If your still getting the same error it's a Firewall or Virus program that is blocking PB.

What Virus program or Firewall program are you using???

First: where should the PnkBstrA.exe and the PnkBstrB.exe be?
second: i am able to JOIN the server (and play about 3-5 min) but i get kicked after then.

I use Kaspersky Internet Security 2011.
but i tried to play with disabled Kaspersky but i get kicked though.
